The UN is encouraging the phasing out of mercury (amalgam) fillings!
At Harrogate Spa Dental we already use alternatives to amalgam fillings!
A United Nations treaty in Jan 2013 set out the future of dental amalgam as follows:
- Progress to be made in phasing down the use of mercury in dentistry.
- Focusing on public health and prevention programmes designed to reduce the incidence of dental disease.
- The use of appropriate non-mercury based materials (eg white fillings) should be encouraged.
